A thicket of brambles
stands between me
and my conveyance

I want to paint
the flickering film
in auburn warmth

The burly brush
wraps round my feet
in tangles of inquisition

assuming Rorschach
ink blot smears
for my words

I play the game
and say
“You know! It’s a butterfly”

When I know
It is Psyche
Held in Cupid’s arms
Dying for him
to release his arrow
Into her

I swallow hard
my perspective

The briars
want to scratch me open
even as they are gray
and brittle, tightly wound
and prudish

I allow my Psyche
to lay private
For the brambles
are only fit for snakes
and small timid creatures

And I shall paint
the lovers white this time
within the pantomime

sparing dead thorns
an early renewal
developing my film
in autumn’s secret

Ahh yes. I am becoming a fan of your work, Lady. I love this!

Your storm of assumption feeds anger I am calm enough to hold inside. Don't pretend to know me if you've never put stretched out your heart with since
