Something tells me
That I should write
about love as seen
through a woman's eyes
Many people
have read my poems
no gender in them
assumed that I'm a man
How I wish sometimes
that was so
Many lonely nights
spend waiting
for my guy to arrive
Why do I hold on?
For love
that's what keeps me going
I can't love another
My love is attached
to the man
who I know loves me
But sometimes
he needs to walk
away from this
painful world
forget everything
even me
That's the way he
deals with stress
Painful for me
you might think?
Yes maybe
but I cannot sacrifice
love
for moments of weakness
So then I
wait for his sure
return
because deep down
I know
that he loves me

I'm sure someday he will want to push aside his troubles for the greater part of life: love. At least I hope so. ^_^

LOVE poetry can be genderless. I never had any doubt as to the gender of the writer, but there have been a couple of writers that left me wondering. No problem though, as LOVE itself is genderless, unless you are speaking French or Spanish, or ?Latin? I don't know about most languages, but my native tongue, English just calls it LOVE, neither male nor female. Interesting thought. See, you made me think about LOVE again.

It's no greener on this side of the fence, same questions, same needs...it's just love and therein lies vulnerability.  Good one, walker!

I think Duncan said it best in his reply, and I agree with him that we are all really dealing with the same realities, just in different bodies with different hormones!  Any way you put it, in any gender, though...this poem said a whole lot and needs to go round again!

...you are me, I am you, we are one...
