A RIPPLE TO PONDER

Copyright 2001 by: Mark V. Sheldon

Even a placid lake
can drown you

with its deep body of
information you lack

if you don't bother to learn
how to swim through it

or if you take it at face value and assume its cloudy
darkness is shallower than your transparent mind

or presume your ability to tread water is enough
to keep you afloat without a shun-device...

The climate may shock you

at first

but the numbing blankets you
with disappearing feelings

as cold reality sinks in exposing
your gooseflesh vulnerability

a big fish out of school
still captured by the net

and you're faced with a quick decision:

Do I sink?
Or do I swim?

Ah to sink means the unknown has won control again...to swim means your eyes are open and reality can be handled with knowledge. BRAVO!!! I love the direction this poem had me thinking in. Magnificent.   **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Thank you, SEA -- glad you enjoyed!

Right on, Startime!  Looks like you can enjoy the water.  Thanks for the enthusiatstic response.

Richard, the trick may also be to realize one's limitations and work with them...  Glad you stopped by.

Some days I sink
Some days I swim
But every day
I get right back in
and try again
and each time
I go deeper
within

Shakespeare summed it up with the phrase, "To be or not to be." Excellent poem.

~Wading is fine. We all get above our head from time to time. I guess I'm lucky to be here. ~Thanks for the ponder Mark.

Then, Kacy, you've taken the real plunge.  It's one thing to tread water;  it's another to swim forward.  Thanks for the visit.

My Melody, ripples can be sensational and are always welcome.

Streen:  it's hard to argue with core wisdom...  but the fun lies in the interpretations and standing behind them.  Thank you for the read and reply.

Regina, wading beats waiting...  (and we're lucky to have you here   ).  Thanks for the active read & reply.
