*thanks to serenity for the challenge line, "even in my loneliness, I choose to stand alone. . . "

the emptiness is all around me
they make it worse with
          their hushed whispers behind
they don't know that I can hear them
their voices resonate in my mind
like tails of nine
          tearing at my heart

for reasons I don't know
I want to be a part of them
perhaps to show them
          what they're not seeing
and what they need to see
what they need to find themselves again

but, the loneliness still stands
like a wall between us
my decisions have built a wall
as have the ones they made
but, I have begun to tear down
          my wall for them
yet, their wall still remains
and my loneliness continues
but, even in my loneliness,
          I choose to stand alone
knowing my light will be seen

There is much here, much to comprehend.  IT's almost as if you are reading my thoughts today.

This is a wonderful challenge response. Sven, you have a very gentle way of tearing down walls.  And when the wall is really, really thick, I believe you can always find a door to open.

Sven - my friend, we must be living in a very close parallel world. You have expressed my thoughts in your writing, as if you know what they are. These words are so very strong, they have touched me very deeply...

A strong statement Sven. Conflict is unavoidable in life and I gather from this that you and I share the same trait of sealing a schism even when we were the wronged party. Enjoyed

Keep lowering the walls, I think that is the best thing we can hope to do. You said this well.

I face similar walls myself my friend.  Walls of jealousy, insecurity, those lacking insight, self confidence etc...  but all we can do is hold fast to who we are and what we believe in - that is the greater good.  For to partake of such stupidity is only a waste of time..
Wonderfully penned hon..  *hugs*
