This spiral has so many bends,
Biased by its own open ends,
We are ants those like to travel,
Through the turns until our heads swell.

We walk all our lives whistling songs,
Not knowing which is right or wrong,
Like ants marching in straight lines,
Joining the dots marked by shrines.

It seems almost as if some men,
Can amend their minds as and when,
As to what's right and who is wrong,
As long as it's their choice of songs.

It is that ancient tradition,
A blind faith in its rendition,
Where none can afford to question,
The rule-maker's thought congestion.

If you question, you'll be thrown,
To the dark gallows by the drone,
Then you shall be an example,
Of human being ignoble.

So we all walk, as has been told,
Along the same lines, growing old,
Never letting ourselves to doubt,
Even what's in and who is out.

Life has become such a spiral,
With thoughts only for survival,
Controlled by society's intrude,
We live the dull life of the prudes.

~!~

Well... saw a movie yesterday, about a town and its tradition of choosing a member of a family (by means of lottery) to die as a human sacrifice, because they believed that keeps the people prosperous and well-fed... believe it or not, the city was called New Hope... and they gave the sacrifice by pelting stones at that person...

I sincerely hope that such outrageous superstitions are not part of our societies ...

anyway, that's that...

thanks for coming by.
regards to all,
sudhir

I've seen versions of that movie, I'm sure.  The name of it is?  And yes, life is very much a spiral that we cannot control, and can only hope to enjoy the ride...

well done, Sudhir!

Thank you very much, my friends...

actually that part of the movie became obvious only in the last 10 minutes or so... till then it was a kind of a murder mystery, with a guy trying to figure out how his dad and mom died... etc... was a disconcerning end tho'...

Karilea, the name was 'The Lottery'...

Regards,
sudhir

A thought provoking read, Sudhir. It is amazing how the spiral of life sometimes pushes and pulls us along a given pathway, and how we do sometimes appear as worker ants, busy rushing along the lines marked out for us, rarely deviating for more than a step or two....for fear of being stepped on?I enjoy your questioning mind.

What is really scary is that there is worse than that being done in our society today. How awful that ancient beliefs such as this result in so much pain instead of uplifting and edifying. Powerful poem with great messages that make you reader stop and think. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
