For The Twilight Years

Scattered
somewhere in time
little bits of me
separate from the whole,
parts of me that stayed behind
when the rest moved on.

Bits and pieces that loved so strong
they stayed with the soul they adored;
bits that died, never rose again,
when the hurt was so bad
they couldn't bear to live.

There are parts that have stayed
with a lifestyle preferred,
some that just didn't like me,
some that knew they were where
they needed to be.

Some are so many years gone
they're almost forgotten,
others just left - yesterday,
still more are on the verge,
and some don't know the difference,
yet.

Memories of life that started years ago,
walked with me, the paths I've taken,
shared the many aspects of a life
touched by so many,
breathed the very air I've breathed.

Somewhere in time they live,
memories, of all I've ever been
visiting me, sharing the life they lead
with the father that created them.

Memories - for the twilight years.

Yes, this sure does instigate thoughts of so many things, so many memories. You wrote a very special one here.
