Bella of floating notes
Unseen, only by the eyes of dead men

Why must the alive, gather
as a clot in one space, gazing
as you grace the floor
with pearls of matching skin

They know the signature of the lily

Even as your eyes are black velveted

They can sense the pollination
in your perfume
as bees, they wish to nectar

Your skill in fancy foot fall
sends daggers at your back
from kindred skin within the fold

You do not die as they’d wish

Instead you bring chimera
into the ball of parquet white
tipping back the black upon it’s toes

Melting even the ice
upon the gargoyle phantoms
guarding the winter gateway
to the palace of masquerade

Some men never need
to see the eyes
as they dive in shallow waters
Folding up and withering
once the mystery is over

Some men never need
to see anything other

This night, you shall show only grace
Under a chandelier of temptation
Causing quite a scandal
with a red tea rose cleaved
just so, between milk and honey

Wowza Regina.......

This night, you shall show only grace
Under a chandelier of temptation
Causing quite a scandal
with a red tea rose cleaved
just so, between milk and honey

Wowza.......your way with words is so exquisite my friend!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

I love the "hidden" aspects of this piece. . . just beneath the surface. . . they're there. . . just like what's beneath the masque. . .

well done my friend. . .

Magic flows so perfectly from the talent of your pen that we all are lost in any vision you weave for us. This poem paints the vision with perfection and grace. Very well done. I love the new picture. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

You bring to us always the natures of being human and present them in such a way that we can't help but stand back and notice and then whisper ... " jeez, she is so right".  You have a style of writing that never fails to capture me when I read your works; leaving me with a sense of being given a poetry lesson and that is a wonderful thing. Afterall, that is why we all are here anyway, isn't it.  I truely enjoyed and am saving in my library to indulge in many many times in the future.

Wow!! Regina, your words literally sizzle off the paper.  The title captured my interest as I love George Benson and the song "This Masquerade".  This piece was crafted so well by your wonderful expertise.
Take care......Sue

My wife works as a companion at a care facility working with real old people. The British man she used to bath would ask her to bath his chandeliers. So I could envision the scandal in your poem!

You have shaped both poems with masterful hand -- the one for all to see and the one for some to disrobe.  Very seductive, both for the eye and for the mind (not unlike your new photo   ).

I really enjoyed being there, in all the tension and energy of it.  And such baldness in the masquerade!
Yes, VERY good!
