We drove towards les Ardennes de Belgique
it was a rainy day and damp was rising high
Beautiful trees in Autumn's colored robes
I love this country and I will show you why

So many little villages are build below a castle
pastel painted houses the streets narrow and steep
Close your eyes and walk through ancient times
when Lords lived up high and servants down deep

They made the road go through the rocks
in Esch sur Sure in Luxembourg's land
The 'Sure' a stream of such a beauty
in hairpin curves around rockhills it went

This is the little cottage we were sleeping in
build amidst the troutponds I took my fishing gear
And Sundaymorning early in a soft misty rain
I stepped outside, inhaled the cold, sat me on my rear

And soon my line went under, many times and more
the dogs did watch me closely to see I did it right
I caught thirteen trouts, you see me catch one here
So we all had food cause I baked some that night

My Tsjip is a real waterdog who doesn't care for cold
she was jumping in and out when I threw my line
It was two degrees, Celsius that is of course
but it didn't bother her, she was enjoying fine

So on Saturdaymorning I went to inspect some sheep
They were roaming pastures in this lovely countryside
And the owners treated us to their local greenbeansoup
pouring local wine and I must say it was a delight

Everywhere in this land you find these little streams
running down the hills from wells somewhere above
Through the woods along the roads tiny waterfalls
Only four hours from my home lies this land I love

And so we came back home at sunset as you see
homesick for the hills? No no the hills are fun
But you always have to climb up and down again
and what they'll never see is this setting of the sun

You write the best travel brochures! I could feel the crisp air, and I climbed those hills with you. what an incredible place. It's easy to see why you love it so.

Such a wonderful treat you have given us, the time and what it took to put this together, thank you Titia.

Thank you for bringing the Netherlands to me. The scenes were beautiful and the touch of the poetry to describe it is more memorable than simple descriptions

Titia, thank you for sharing the beauty of Europe.  Is this the same forest where the tide of WWII turned?

Midnitesun, ha ha they should rent me as their PR-woman, glad you enjoyed.

Tracey, your bed is made, just fly over dear

James, thank you so much

Sweet Kay, I like putting pics and words together

Sunshine, glad you travelled with me

Oh Deer, you got me   was it so obvious? I'll keep the spareroom free for you

Sudhir, living in Bruxelles you live practically next to it

Nakdthoughts, thanks

Joe, you're new here? welcome sweet guy to Passions friends

Charisma, it is a beautiful countryside isn't it, can't get enough of it

Interloper, thanks, well it's probably not the same forest, but it's the same area, for the Ardennes takes 1/3 of the Belgium country. We've seen some memorials of WWII

I didn't read this earlier because I thought it was writtn in another language and I doubted it was the only one I know...pig latin (plus a few dirty words in Italian).  So glad I finally checked in, anyway.
Think you could make Tracey's room a double?  Don't think she'd mind.  lol
Sometimes, I find it so hard to believe that the places you photograph actually exist.  I wish I could see them through my own eyes but I am most thankful for seeing them through yours.

Well sweet Duncan, you're more than welcome.

We're just building this guesthouse, so plenty of room as you see.

So get together with Tracey and Balladeer and fly over and I'll show you around.

Wow, you even have a guest house!

Though, I think Balladeer would be more comfortable sleeping out of doors, maybe with the sheep.  lol
