Prelude: Many years ago when growing up in New Orleans - that city of voodoo, magic, and more ways to skin a cat then you'll ever believe, I had a premonition (my whole family is physic-o) and I wrote this piece (we're all fibbers too)on a paper napkin at the Cafe` du Monde.  Thanks dgv for making me remember and dig it out of the closet.     (for those out of the know see "from the horses mouth..."uh, I mean "drinkin coffee" by dgvarner
)

Bonjour, C'est pour vous

(Hello, This is for you)

Café Du Monde
quarter to five in the morning – 1959.
I'm leaning on the wrought-iron railing,
Café Au Lait, half coffee half hot milk,  in hand,
shirt front sprinkled white from Beignets,
watching New Orleans awaken.
I'm saving reminiscing for another time,
another cup of coffee –
Instead I'm thinking about destiny,
friends I've yet to meet,
fresh hot coffee shared,
the warmth of companionship.
Years from now dgvarner
will write a poem
and destiny will pull together
folks like Amused Cupid,
Krawdad, Midnitesun,Sea,
Sudhir Lyer, bslicker,
Balladeer, Mark Bohannan,
Midnightsun, Startime,Enchantress,
Elizabeth and Sunshine –
warm-hearted friends
from as faraway as India, Alaska,
and as close as next door –
neighbors in their souls
coming together for the coffee beans' nectar.
I order more Beignets, coffee – smiling,
yeah….there's definitely magic
in the air of New Orleans.
Au revoir, À bientôt – Goodbye, See you soon
my friends, at Destinys Door.

Hahaha, very good, very good jimmy!
Too bad we meet only virtually, but then, the coffee is always good in the imagined cafe, no?  And the friends?  Well, we already know about that.

WOW two coffee poems in one night.  I think you took dg's little ditty and brewed it in the delight of rare columbian beans that only the elite get treated to.  Excellent write and if ya have a spare cup ... could ya pass it on down the line to this tired ole cowboy?

Now back to the vacuum cleaner and the dirty dishes.    UGH!

OK, so the vacuuming and the dishes can wait until later. LOL. It's already getting dark outside, it's -5F and going down BRR! and I needed another cup of sweet java, and some more poetry for my snack.

Anyway - ya'll are lit up - even Midnightsun so she can warm her bones.  Ordered up extra strenght w/chickory (theres your yuck dgv) and almost boiling---I mean -5 degrees and falling...heck I got ya beat here in Texas - we got double 5 degrees...uh-above....

see ya guys...wherever!

Oh what a cute piece this is. You are a man of many talents…I didn’t realize being psychic was one of them!!! I do so love the café du monde and their warm beignets and café au lait. I’m tasting them in my memory now. I will be back there in February and can’t wait. (and hey, I'll forgive ya for sneezing out my name!!!)

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
