In the mist a dead father at three months,
fog overwhelmed mother in alcohol, drugs and worse.

But eyes, twin beacons shine through
as moonrise sheds it's cloak of clouds.

Zeus isn't available to grant any wish
as he had Endymion whose choice,

eternal sleep, was his idea of staying
young and good looking forever.

One wonders how he enjoyed his vanity
with eyelids shuttered in perpetuity.

Would he not be doomed to immature dreams?
Saturday morning reruns with no fresh air?

Pearl's beauty dwells in confinement,
in dark shells in the murky brine.

The mightiest ships tethered will stagnate, rust and sink
from liquids gentle lapping to the calendar's cadence.

Narcissus reveled in his own image,
wide eyed up to his fall to fate.

His end ours. We drown alone while undisturbed,
the worldly waters swirl in sameness.

Only drowning's occupant will thrash to the
accompaniment of the deafening din of descent.

The miniscule sands conspired to conceal
the Great Sphinx for centuries.

Carved ruins of Can~on de Chelle stood
deserted in New Mexican rock.

A seventh century wild boar knew to seek
protection from the king's hunting party

instinctively running to the feet
of the monk, St. Deicocus.

This child Loves me, no saint.
But I will supply enough wind

to hold the sand at bay,
enough light to illuminate

the features of the rock from ruin
and enough air to forestall drowning,

while we both await
the penitent Magdalen.

I do not understand the lock, unless it is due to the personal photo. The poem is pure Love.

Moderators, thank you for removing the padlock.

It wasnt me who locked it. I was reading some stuff over in the Alley. Good write RS.
I think someone locked the other one because there was only a pic and no poem.

For clarification, the "lock" was applied because the post did not contain a poem.  Mr. Wells was notified to have a chance to add the poem.

Thank you.

THANK YOU, Karilea. When I first saw it the poem and pic were together. I love your quick responses.
To Richard, this is one of the most tender writes I've ever read.

Sorry about that. Mr. Wells is no computer expert. It's the first photo I've loaded myself and I checked first to make sure it did, then pecked my two finger poem.

all children should feel such love..
