If I betrayed your trust, how would you feel?
Would you feel hurt, anger, is all this real?
Would you ask yourself over and over why?
Do you think you might even want to cry?

Would I just take advantage, go my way?
Would I smile falsely and have a nice day?
When I left would you feel empty inside?
Or would you want to just run away, hide?

If I were you, I would...I was betrayed too.
I felt so all alone, useless and so very blue.
I couldn’t find the words I wanted to say.
I hated so when they smiled, walked away.

But always remember that the trust betrayed
can make you stronger, make you less afraid.
And now you will approach each new day
being careful of who to trust, who will stay.

Trust is such a precious thing.
It's a treasure which should be closely guarded when recieved. And should be given with outmost care...

A wise deep write and well said.

Thank you

Barry, you have such a sensitive quality to your words, this one touched me deeply.
Yes, hurt is sometimes expressed in anger, but hurt usually does come from broken trust.  Very emotional write, here.  Felt this truly.

I know what it feels like to be betrayed and it is something that no one should have to experience. Your right, it makes you stronger though and more aware of who to keep in your life and who to give the boot to. Everyone can relate to this poem sweet Magnus!

Peaches,  I don't enjoy others crying from
what I write...but I do enjoy when I know
they have been touched enough to know they
are not alone...and that others do care.

Betrayal is such a horrible thing and it can be difficult to trust again after being betrayed. I liked the last stanza, much truth there.

Like an innocent child...ever trusting until
they are hurt...then they become apprehensive
and may become scared...

Yes...we learn much from our hurts..But
sometimes even that doesn't stop us from
coming back for more.  Still trying to
trust.

Thanx Tracey

Barry
This was so well written and how easily I could relate to this.  I've always been far too trusting but have been let down by so many that it has in fact made me a stronger person.  You certainly know who your real friends are!  Take care.......Sue

Thank you Sue,  this was very easy for me
to write...too much experience I guess.
Still have to watch who I trust...sometimes
still difficult to do so...But, we are
getting there.

Magnus, I know the feeling of betrayed trust and the hurt that goes with it. So this touched me deeply.

Ahhh ... trust ... 'tis a very tricky thing indeed. You've captured this well Magnus. We seem to start out at 100% each time, and it dwindles away from there.  Very much enjoyed your thoughts in this piece!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Barry, Trust is one of the hardest things that we learn to do. It takes so long to trust someone, yet it can take so little to break it.
Nicely written.
