The Friendship Tree

A friendship tree was planted from the seed of poetry
Into a garden with no walls for all the world to see
Nourished by a few who fertilized the vacant ground
With verses wrought from talent, filled with love and thought and sound

They worked the soil to stengthen roots, and when the earth was dry
They chaneled water to the tree, each standing side by side
Responding to each other and uncovering their hearts
Luring others to the garden with a yearn to be a part

The tree has grown quite solid now with branches spreading wide
Each one is different, though they all have common needs inside
They’re of a common essence and have grown from common earth
And each one has hands that write sweet verses all of equal worth

The leaves will shelter one another, roots are growing deep
And friendship is the fruit that we may savor well and keep
We know each others spirit and we know each others heart
Whoever joins us in the garden, becomes a loving part

It is the leaves of poetry that flutter in the breeze
It is the tree of friendship, the most splendid of all trees

indeed.. indeed.. this poem deserves to be at the top.. and I feel honored to bring it there..
This really ties in well with what we have here in Piptalk, but can corrolate with myriad aspects of life, whether it be the sharing of poetry or merely the sharing of simple friendship. Our lives ARE poetry!

And know this from "one litte twig" to another, that our roots are now firmly planted to withstand the strongest of winds, rains, sleet, snow...well, you have the idea right?    Oh Elizabeth, this was simply one of your very best, and so true, for whomever comes into the garden will be cherished.  This was a beautiful poem.
