Between a laugh and a tear...

In The Time Before

You came to me
In the time before
Through ages unknown
A love unseen, yet evermore

You brought the gift
Of an Angels' Star
How brightly it shone
A bridge from afar

Such sweet reprieve
From life's long pain
Those words unspoken
Left a heart with much to gain

So slow it seems
As time rolls on
'Twas only yesterday
The sun it shone

Left only to wonder
Was it just my folly?
Chased the dream a step too far
Left now to live with melancholy

To reminisce lost love
Behind time's heavy door
When this heart knew love
In the time before

So I know just what I am." ~ Van Morrison

EagleOne, there is such longing in your beautiful words. You have touched a corner of my heart with this.

I was just about to shut the computer off and go to bed. Glad I saw this before I did. I love this one.

To reminisce lost love
Behind time's heavy door
When this heart knew love
In the time before

I've lived this loss, and truth to tell, never did get over it entirely. Maybe one day I will, maybe one day you will too.
I really like this poem, though it brings back memories I try to forget.

You wrote many feelings that many of us have felt.  A time when all seemed right and then in a blink the time was changed.  Also, a healing piece with words.  I enjoyed this, friend, and glad to see you back here.  ME

You've brought tears to my eyes my sweet
angel friend...this is so delicately woven
with the golden thread of memories...alas
they are always there to hold us when the
arms we long for are to far away to reach.
Beautiful work sweet one~

*sigh* sometimes our memories of the times before are what give us hope for the time to come. It is so good to read your poems again. You have so much love to give that I pray you will not be alone for long. **big hugs** take care of you, my friend.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

My sweet Butterfly friend, it is obvious from your words that you understand oh so well! Your description of golden threads of memories is perfect, and yes the memories are indeed golden, if I could just have them without the ache! Thank you my friend, for your understanding and for you kind words. Take care!

Startime ~ yes, they can give us hope too, a matter of perspective I guess. Thank you, take care!

Nancy ~  I'm sorry for the ache, but I'll accept the hugs gladly, thanks for adding your thoughts!
