There must be you somewhere in my day
as I am
Swirling.
Like fluttering autumn leaves on November trees
I am aflame with the colors you cause
with the ripple of love from your soul.
As your hands sink into my tossed strands
I am remembering why you're here with me
through smiles and almost two winters now.
The lights on my tree look a little different
beneath my smile,
and every breath I take of the season
just utters a very you like existence.
I remember the us that grew
from a chance moment of feet mingling with feet
in rhythm to fun
originating from a lonely New Year's Eve.
How long will I still hold on
if you ever let go?
How long will your presence be burned into my will
when I blink
and you have gone another way
and all I see is your wave in the distance
beckoning me still
or will that be a ghost?

Oh Jenn!!  I love it!  You 'swirl' beautifully!  This is...straight from your heart.
Great imagery and, oh, the longing!
Enjoyed thoroughly.

What a wonderful love this seems to be. Don't even think about the "what if's", just enjoy the "what's now". It sounds heavenly

Aw, Jenn, it was such a beautiful half-poem! Don't spoil such a beautiful mood with what-ifs about it ending!

This felt like the ghost from christmas past still lingering in the yule log of your heart. Your ramblings are to ponder on and deeply admire. I love your way of words like "I am aflame with the colors you cause". Not rambling...burning!

hands sinking into soft strands.
OMG, this is so rich.  Jenn, this gives new meaning to holding on..to love.
