Beast Of Burden

I was told to shout from upon the mountaintop to let my voice be heard
And, for those who choose to be open will hear my song
For they will know without the blunt expression I may give off
That somewhere along my journey I've carried a hint of a frown along...

I don't know of any other way to share the rain then through a grieving tune
And, for those of you who'd rather feel the sun then feel my rain
Understand the choice is yours to block the sound of it pouring from your ears
But, it is my only way to freedom if I at least allow the welcome change...

Forgive me if at this point in life I can't give each of you a rose like no other
And, understand that it may take me a little longer to catch all of you a silver star
Even realize I'm not able to give you warmth like a friend should be able to do
But, realize there'll come a time I'll hand you all a color from a sunset when I reach that far...

This goes out to all of you and to the man not one of you have ever seen
I don't mean to bring you down with what I've had to face
Please don't think of me as a beast of burden
Cause hopefully one day I will walk the shorelines with grace...

I do find many times I wear an invisible camouflage type attitude
And, behind it I only feel the weight of the dark
So, I learned to smile when I have to and laugh when needed
But, my fake self disappears as if in quicksand when we eventually part...

What I wouldn't give to be a laser to be zoomed to a serious helpful place
And, in an instant things would change than any current could move
But, I know that's not possible to live in a fairy tale world
Just please, please, don't allow me to be a beast of burden to you...

If I fall, and I often do, I don't expect anyone to pick me up
And, my man of kindness, that means you as well
If I have become the beast of burden to any soul that I know
Then just as fast as the storms can brew I can go back into my shell...

Shout it out, Sauni. From the mountaintops, the valley below, by the railroad tracks...anyplace you happen to be when you need to release the pain. And some day that smile will be a permanent fixture, coming from your true heart.

sing like it's the only song you know. . .

and someday, the burdens will be lifted. . . this, I know. . .

well done. . .

Saunni, this went right to my heart, melted it to pieces.
