Sitting here listening to the radio,
Wondering where did all the years go.
It seems like a lifetime, I was out
running wild,
No wonder my parents were so strick,
they were worried about their child.

I can see that now, beings I have
children of my own,
But you couldn't tell me that back
then, I just wanted to be left alone.

Things sure have changed though, since
I was out doing my thing,
The kids now a days don't know what
fun intales,
They're out there selling drugs,
getting busted and going to jail.

They 've given up on going to dances,
football games, movies or even
attending school,
They wouldn't be caught dead doing
things like that, it simply isn't "cool".

They'd rather be out there stealing,
then to work and buy their own, drive
by and shoot someone, just to prove
they can shoot a gun.

No, I didn't understand when I was growing
up, why my parents were so hard on me,
But now that I have raised children of
my own, I truely understand,
If you wants what's best for your child,
you have to take them by the hand.

You have to show them you love them,
Even if it means you must remain strick,
Make this an every day task,
Teach then good moral standards while
they are young,
For they sure grow up fast....

I agree. You have be to strict with your children. They wont appreciate it though until they are grown up and have children of their own. Well said lewisone!

I agree as well, being strict with your children may very well be a good idea... but remember, there is another side to that.. you CANT be too strict.. because that can awaken the rebel in every child's heart. It's not unheard of to see a child slip into bad things to escape the "tyranny" of thier own parents. There must be a good deal of freedom
