"The Parade"

The firetrucks were lined up,
The majorettes were at a stance,
The band started playing "Louie, Louie",
They all began to dance....

All the people were gathered,
along the town streets,
When the parade got into sight,
They all jumped to their feet....

The children screamed with excitement,
As the firetrucks came through,
The sirens were really loud,
scaring quite a few....
Comforted by candy that the firemen
threw to the curb,
They scrambled to claim the sweets,
Looking, but not saying a word....

Then the end came, the last float
worked it's way through,
Parents gathered their children,
As parents always do....

The parade was over,
It had been a beautiful day,
Everyone headed back home,
Another memory had been made....

This brought a smile to my face.   It made me think of memories in the small town where I grew up...The parades there weren't huge, but they were still fun. The best part was the gathering though.

Your storm of assumption feeds anger I am calm enough to hold inside. Don't pretend to know me if you've never put stretched out your heart with since
