Not Even If Could

I did a lot of drifting, back when I was young.
I really cannot understand, why youth equates with dumb.
I saw a lot of country, while living on the road...
When freedom was my motto, hitch-hiking was my mode.

No house, no debts, back in those days, no place I had to be.
Not one soul in the universe, who worried about me.
A cowboy and a drifter, out in the great Southwest-
The mountains and the desert, were the life I loved the best.

But years and miles behind me, have changed the way I think-
Have changed the style of life I lead, and taught me not to drink.
I've found we can't undo the past, exchange the bad for good-
But I'm not sure I'd change a thing, not even if I could.

BRAVO!!!! I know I wouldn't change my past. It is what made me who I am today and I happen to like who I turned out to be. *grin* well most days I like me.   Wonderfully said, John.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I have only one thing to say about this piece: "But I'm not sure I'd change a thing, not even if I could." Well written.

Quod me nutrit me destruit.

Excellant! We all turn out to be alright, some just take a longer path. The way you
expressed the path you took was very enlightening.....Nice work! Keep it up
