Toast and Cranberries

Come and sit with me
on this day after,
we will eat noisy things
like toast and cranberries,

and if you sing
I’ll sing with you,
for I am not filled yet
with the noisome chorus of life.

I’ll sip it up
from this dainty rose hip china,
and slurp from the bowl
where I have swirled memories
with the bright beguile of your smile.

Sit cross legged
around the oak tree
on the grass of empty places
that need filling,
with knees and elbows
we’ll dig for the spirit,
and feel it fall from autumn sky,

the one that glows
from the not yet lit fire
yet speaks with sparked tongue,
that burns time like newspapers
under the first logs of winter.

Let’s make this day the best twirl,
for the gold of sun leaks laughter,
and joy is this minute.

Come and sit with me
on this day after,
we will eat noisy things
like toast and cranberries.

To decorate this aging
is no longer possible, but the wind
knows, just moaning in the afternoon
changes the listener.

Im on my way...tell me?......
Does raspberry tea go with cranberries
love the taste of the season you sprinkled us with.

me

I would wait till the end of time for you,
Then do it all again ... it's true.
I can't measure my love for you,
There's nothing to compare it to.

May I have toast and strawberries? Your poem is like a tasty after dinner mint. Thanks you for sharing.
