Thanksgiving is a time when I
Let memory explore
The blessings that I have and all
The things I'm grateful for.

A wonderous woman in my life
I cherish and adore
Who sticks with me through thick and thin
Is what I'm grateful for.

My health is rather good, I think
Although I do get sore
From one too many holes of golf..
This I am grateful for.

The many friends now in my life
I didn't know before
Enriching me in many ways
I'm also grateful for.

The small fact that my belly still
Won't reach down to the floor
And I can still part with a comb...
This, too, I'm grateful for.

I'm grateful that, when hungry, I
Can go down to the store
And buy the food I need to have
I'm very grateful for.

I'm happy for the tiny ways
That I could help the poor
And give a hand to those with little
To be grateful for.

I'm happy that my President
Is NOT named Albert Gore!!!
This one rises to the top
Of things I'm grateful for!

For all the friends I've met here
I extend my thanks and more.
You are indeed the greatest thing
That I am grateful for.

Like I said before, opposing views can and do co-exist peacefully in a few corners of the world, the blue pages are an example. I am grateful beyond belief to be able to share my thoughts with so many fine people. I voted for Al, but I think maybe the voting machine ate my ballot!?!?!?

balladeer, and all, happy thanksgiving - i have much to be thankful for, (lack of gore being one of 'em) but mostly i'm thankful for tara, who inspires me to greater efforts every day.
balladeer, as always, your verse brings laughter and good humor. thanks for sharing it with us.
as far as the florida ballots..... all i can really say is Florida voters can be creative.
-Dave, who is still in shock from that news item   (and of course from the trauma of "upgrading" to windows XP)

Dave...Tara certainly seems to be someone to be thankful for! I wish you both the best. Loved the article on Florida voters! Those Palm Beach women can handle 6 bingo cards without missing a beat but can't handle a ballot with two choices! LOL! Have a great turkey day!

Janet Marie....Same to you!   You are definitely one of the things I am most grateful for
Oh, the spam will have white meat...but did you ever try to stuff those things?

Love this one Balladeer. There really are so many things in this life to be thankful for, and you have pointed out many of them. We've already had our Thanksgiving, but I wish you, and all other American friends here a very wonderful thanksgiving. Save me some leftovers, okay?? (but....not if you're having spam!!!   )

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

in one of the responses, I read Happy Turkey Day... and I was instantly amused...

American Tradition, and Happy Turkey Day...

That is a real blending of nationalities and peoples...

So I guess, it really is a great day, this day of Thanksgiving...

a happy one to you too, Sir Balladeer...

Thanks for your lovely poetry and kindness too...
