standing on a shadow's lace

spoken and written words
are worlds apart
speak your words warmly pressed
against my heart

read to me
oh poet king
your words dance,
they stir, they sing

and as you speak
your words of rhyme
we shall glide
through endless time

take me to dances
of shadowed steps
we now run
where we first crept

read to me
it is my bread
another line
that draws our thread

a place only you
can take me to
I know of it’s secrets
as do you

there is a world
that we ascend
in your voice
I can forever spend

"I have already paid for all my future sins."  Sade...(King of Sorrow)

This is beautiful, Helen. I'd love for someone like that to read to me too.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

I really enjoyed reading this. A love poem read aloud would be a great Thanksgiving treat!
When my daughter was about two, every night she would grab a book and say 'Mommie read to me, please, mommie read to me, read to me." And now that she is a teenager, she reads a novel or two a week, and sometimes reads a passage or two out loud to me.
Have a great and peaceful Thanksgiving.

There is nothing like having poetry read to you.  This one brings back some lovely memories for me.  Thank you for sharing, Helen.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!!
