I'm on center stage, with their eyes on me
I hate this life and I want to break free.
When the curtains part and I feel the lights' glare
It's always a shock and always a scare.
The pressure is high and my heart beats fast
And this is my whole life, my present and past.
But what is the future and what will it hold?
This same old routine, or one new and bold?
I can't live this way, trying so hard to please all
I'm only setting me up for a fall.
Please help me find that which I'm meant to do
For I know what you say will always be true.
I'm on center stage, with their eyes on me
Will I see the day that I'm finally free?

God bless America, my home sweet home.

It gets better, Elizabeth, it really does. You're going through those trying, difficult years now. One day, soon, you will be looking back on these days with the fondness that only time and distance brings. In the meantime...(((HUGS)))

This year can't be over soon enough for me and I know that sounds horrible, how I relate to this, Elizabeth...how I well relate.

Sometimes when people yell "Encore" it doesn't happen for a reason.  I would say that this is a poem a lot can relate to, and that curtain going up or staying down is the decision of the person standing center stage.   April spells freedom to me!  This poem contained the contents of real life Liz, and extremely well done.
