*Even when someone you love hurts you, it is always possible to forgive them. I really believe that the one who loves you the most will probably also hurt you more than any other is capable. Time, patience and forgiveness can heal any wound.*

I loved you with
all my heart
and you threw it all away.
So I asked of you
to end our farce
and you demanded that I stay.

I looked at you
with loving eyes
and you screamed at me with rage.
I begged of you
with heavy heart
to release me from your cage.

I thought of you
with kind thoughts
but you drove them from my mind.
I feared you like
the hunted prey
for your obsession was too blind.

I hated you
with all my soul
and wished your presence gone.
I prayed for you,
I don't know why,
and was able to move on.

I remembered you
from time to time
and thought of what had passed.
I heard of you
from friends of mine
and forgiveness came at last.

I called you up
one fateful day
and asked you how you were.
I offered you
one more chance
to show me freindship, pure.

I realized
that people change
and saw the healthy you.
I remembered back
to better times
and offered to start anew.

I saw in you
a better man
than the one you once became.
I knew that you
had truly healed,
and of your past you felt great shame.

I offered you
an honest friend
and let that friendship grow.
I fell in love
a second time
but I wouldn't let it show.

I feared the past,
what had become
of the love we once had shared.
I searched myself
and found that I
had always really cared.

I kissed you once
and told you how
my heart was once more yours.
I asked you for
a tender touch
and you showed me so much more.

I love you still
this very day
and am thankful we are bound.
I love you more
each passing day
and I love what we have found.

"I am nae poet, in a sense;
But just a rhymer like by chance..."

This was a great honest write from the heart, Abigaile.  I think everyone deserves another chance because people are definitely capable of change.  Very well said.

All writing comes
