A sliver of moon
  its bulk darkly regarded

           I thought of the day
              when my mother'd die

A silver festoon
  under hulk disregarded

           Daydreaming the ways
              that we all would cry

Great toenail of sky
  wrapped around a black eye

           A grand wake
              many Irish'd attend

Canoe ossified
  round black ring underlied

           Shoulders shake
              many elbows we'd bend

Last swallow of milk
  in a heaven of ink

           Would the last
              of eleven she be?

Liebfraumilch in silk
     in her casket we'd sink
           waning moon and
                      my mother
                           and me

This one leaves me with a sad feeling, though it may not have been penned from sadness. Your moon imagery is great. Driving into town tonight, the moon was hanging so low on the horizon it seemed to be within my reach. Its full roundness was visible, and the crescent looked like a tasty roll.  Thank you, Richard, for another enjoyable read.

Richard this is such clever writing...
such unique and cool imagery and anologies of the moon are wrapped around the bittersweet emote of this gem from thy gifted pen.
I saw this remarkable moon last night.. and it stired up memories of the same kind.
seems we poets feel Luna's pull like the tide... so many moon inspired poems here each time the moon and seasons phase.
well done poet sir

I would wait till the end of time for you,
Then do it all again ... it's true.
I can't measure my love for you,
There's nothing to compare it to.

Your loss and sadness comes through this poem very well. It touched my heart. I have learned there is always a sense of sadness in much of your work and for that my heart goes out to you. Beautiful, heartfelt poem that conveys well you love for your mother. **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I wish we would study poetry such as this in class -- this is infinitely better than most of the "famous contemporary" works I've read all semester.  And I'm not flattering.

Can I say anything to your poems besides "Wow, well done?" You haven't written anything that I haven't enjoyed.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

RS--You bring the reader to your poems touch with such apparent ease...a ballet that is, no doubt, more difficult than it seems....another wonderful write!
