*Yet another revelation about the painful time that I went through with my husband. he and I have been speaking much abou this period in our lives recently, and we know that our understanding of each other helps us only to grow stronger. I urge everyone who reads this, if you have a loved one who ever hurt you, there are times when redemption is deserved, and when forgiveness brings happiness. I hope you like this. SMILE*

You stood there
accusing
demanding to know why.
I stood there
silent
my mind already set.
You cried
and you left
yet you continued
to return.
Over and over.
Each time
demanding to know why.
I cried so often,
I felt the pain
would never die.
And then...
then you destroyed me,
betrayed me,
violated me,
killed me.
And then you were gone.
As you left
I felt life returning.
But as time passed
I felt incomplete.
I finally knew why.
So I called upon you,
asked you to be gentle,
begged you to be different.
And to my delight
you were.
No more accusing,
no more anger,
no more hatred.
Only love.
And I knew why.
I knew why
I had asked you to leave.
Because you weren't you
anymore.
I knew why I asked you to return.
Because you were yourself
once more.
I know why I have asked you to stay.
Because you will love me
as only you can
evermore.
And I love you.
We are complete.

But just a rhymer like by chance..."

Familiar story for me.  I like the way you've written it and glad yours has a happy ending.

Such a happy ending.  Ask and you shall receive.  I am glad for you and your husband and glad you shared your wisdom, because I need all I can get lately.

Reconciliation. It's tough, and takes a mountain of committment and humility to make it work a second time...even more than the first time around. At least, that's been true in my own limited experience.
A very good write. Good luck to you both.

You have taken the harder road but there will be many blessings as you travel it together. This is a tender and compassionate poem that shows love as it really is. Very well done.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I loved this one, Abigaile.  There is nothing like a happy ending.  Best of luck to you.
