This Slivered Moon

I could see the slivered moon
in the western sky resplendent
and in the shadow thus displayed
reverence spoke as purple iris
knelt together petals folded
and behind them in the bower
sunflowers bowed like dolls with yellow hair
tired from sunlight’s hold on watching.

And then the magic evening breezes
touched the sage and released such magic
frog voices spilled from off the mountains
across the canyon’s echoed chamber
and stillness folded in my vision
and brought me too complete delighting
quenched the hunger of my spirit
touched my moonlit face beguiling.

Oh slivered moon with shadowed light
dream me perfect in your drenching
breeze this spirit with this loving
touch of magic moving heaven
beguile my skin to soft with light
engorge my sleep with fragrant dream
keep me in your quiet watch
as day succumbs to nighttime’s peace.

Martie, this is even more of a beautiful moon poem than is your usual, and that's a lot!

This poem is absolutely magical as it weaves it way around the heart of me. I love the moon and the romance of it that fills my soul. This beautiful poem has all the music of its magic. I love it.   Very well done.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She claims possession of the moon
For she bestows its light
In phrases as her mind construes
This princess of the night

She touches the untouchable
With tip of poet pen
In silken words and tender verse
The moon is born again

Her thoughts are images from eyes
That see a different world
Unwrapping visions in a phrase
So delicately unfurled

Exotic thoughts we couldn’t conceive
Now bathe us with their grace
As words like stars around the moon
Are gently laid in place

Poetic layers blanket us
With life’s most simple view
And fill us with celestial glow
Of heaven’s most splendid hue

For this, the radiant moon displays
A smile upon her face
For this we all are truly blessed
By Marti, poet of grace

Thank you for posting one of my favorites

Oh Martie!
Incredibly beautiful.
I was trying to highlight special passages but the whole poem is so full of beautiful immages, I couldn't pick!

More!
