The phantom poet
enters the room
But only she could
understand the meaning
of his words
Many read
symphathized
cried for him
He created love
and spread it
over the night
softly
gently
carefully
not meaning his words
but reciting them anyways
Watch out
here he comes
pen and napkin
in his hands
In the bar
making girls
sigh
at the thought
of kissing such
a romantic
full of
love and so
desired

Geesh..this fell into oblivion with only two replies? NO WAY, Lady!   Not as long as I'm around. I love this!

Your storm of assumption feeds anger I am calm enough to hold inside. Don't pretend to know me if you've never put stretched out your heart with since

Wonderful my friend - brings back man rich memories.  Drank a bunch of free beer writing on napkins to barmaids and waitress' and when I was courting my wife drew pictures and wrote poems on this bright red tablecloth in one of the "clubs" we were in - and she stole the tablecloth (didn't realize I was trying to win a thief!).

Thanks much for all the warm and wonderful thoughts this great piece brought to mind.

This is great, walker. I resemble this remark! I'm not a drinker and on occasions I would be in a bar not knowing anyone and that's exactly what I would do...grab a napkin and start writing....I don't ever recall it getting me a girl, though...just a bunch of strange looks!

Very good write, Walker. It's those napkin writers we have to watch out for. PS Save the napkins.
Should we make that a new slogan, like save the whales, save the tigers, save the manatees?

SAVE THE NAPKINS!
or
SAVE THE POETS! ????
I am silly.

This made me laugh...I write on napkins all the time but didn't realize it made me a bad person...coffee shops, restaurants, bars, you name it...usually when I write I am self absorbed within my thoughts and not trying to impress anyone...but there have been a few times when I found myself admiring a waitress or a hostess and was inspired to write a poem for them on the spot or immediately thereafter...James
