bomber crew 1944

Euston , steam twists and curls
Lovers close: now part
Young boys ,even younger girls
Parting ; each takes a broken heart

Shouts , whistles, flags wave
Doors slamming:gun shots to the brain
Her face tense, white ,trying to be brave
His face, tense ,never seen again

In the cemetary fields lying
Rank on rank,row on row
The ever dead and forever dying
Suffering shared by friend and foe

How can they rest?
Since it was all in vain
They gave there very best
For what?
Here lies there pain

*sigh* this was such a clear vision to me. I was raised in the military and once married into it as well. This poem touched the very soul of me. My heart felt the pain and loss. **hugs**

Arthur, you paint a very true and painful picture of war....it could have been any war.
Well done, Nancy.
Hugs across the pond.

~I've loved you forever, in lifetimes before.~
