Here's one I started to have fun with, then ended up in tears at the end. Go figure!

Strange

it’s so very strange
how the chill of the air
slows my blood to January molasses
and yet the morning hours
just speed by, oblivious
to my lack of animation

my rise was early enough
accomplishments have been at hand
yet
here it is,
one hour before the clock says
‘be there or be late!’

why can’t it wait?!
why does it speed forth,
shouldn’t the frigid air
slow its hands
as well as it slows my veins
as well as it slows my sinew
as well as it slows the blades of grass
and the clouds that fail to pass

but, no,
the hands continue their pace
as if they’re in a race
to steal the hours away
chipping at the day
running to the pull
upon the shade of night
eager to tug
and bring it down
and drown
my hopes
my dreams
my joyous planned-out schemes

SLOW IT DOWN!
stop robbing me
stop throbbing me
stop, stop, STOP!!!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I could laugh or cry at the message in this one. When you figure out how to stop that speeding clock, or at least slow it down, will you promise to share the secret with me?

Time forever marches on.  I too wish I could slow it down every now and then.  Nice work, Virginia.

Just the way you write it makes the emotions flip flop. A great poem.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.
