The Lives You Touch - A Little Thank You to Ron

I posted my first poems back in 1999,
That's thirty months ago now … my, oh my … where goes the time?
I gathered up my e-mails from the visitors you see,
The ones who took the time to write some kind words back to me.

I answer every one of them, each time they filter in,
For every one is special … gives such warmth to me within;
I've laughed, I've cried, I've made new friends … from all around the world,
Amazing how your site has grown … how all of this unfurled.

It prompted me the other day, to check up on some stats,
It's just a curiosity I have (I like to track);
I love to watch the numbers from the main site as they grow,
And had some fun reviewing several numbers to and fro.

Now here I sit, I'm penning down my thoughts to you in rhyme,
I'm sure you're thinking, "What on earth's her lengthy point this time?!"
It's simple Ron … you've given me the greatest gift I've found,
A place where I can share my heart, with folks from all around.

I'm not the most outgoing gal … I'm shy and quite reserved …
Was happy just to hide inside this shell that I preserved;
But something special happened back in March of 99,
I found a joy I never thought that I could ever find.

I don't think just a "thank you" is enough to say to you …
I "know" how hard you work … I know the selfless things you do;
I wonder if you thought when you began the Passion's site,
The many people you would touch … the millions you'd ignite.

It's not only the visitors; their numbers speak themselves,
Those stats alone can make heads spin … they truly overwhelm!
It's "all" that flows behind the scenes, the lives that you have linked,
From visitors to authors … who have shared their hearts through ink.

It's like a chain of humankind has grown throughout your site,
Those reading and responding, sending e-cards and the like;
It's not just every guest who stops to read a little verse,
It's "all" the lives through chain reaction, that have been traversed.

I hope in some small way, I can repay you for this all,
I love the little role I play behind the Passion's walls;
But most of all, I love the warmth you've brought into my heart,
For all the people I've been blessed to meet … you played a part.

I hope you know how wonderful I think you truly are,
For "all" you do behind the scenes, that other's aren't aware;
For all the time you take to word your thoughts just aptly so …
Amongst the complicated threads where others dare not go.

For all the wisdom that you share, for all the time you spend,
For all the times you offer help to others without end;
For being someone with a heart that spans across the globe,
I hope you know each life you touch … returns a thousand fold.

/Kit McCallum

Kit, you surely have captured not only the heart and soul of this site, but highlighted the point that one person can surely make a difference.

Well done, and to Ron, I too thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts and emotions with those who understand.

... and so ...

If ever you stop to wonder whether what you do for the folks here is worthwhile, just come back to this thread and peruse it for a bit.  You'll not wonder again.  I expect this one to go on for awhile...

With every stroke of your keyboard, you are helping people in every corner of this big wide world...

Kit's right - People don't have a clue how much time and effort you really put into making this this Passionate oasis the success that it is.  You make me proud, m'dear... Proud of you for your wonderful gifts... Proud of you for your accomplishment... Proud to work beside you... and gratefully proud to call you my dearest friend.

Kit, this is wonderfully said, and I agree, though I came here in June of 2000, it has added so much to my life. And I have met so many special people.
Thank you Ron!

Oh Kit! This is wonderful! I think of all the millions of people who read the poetry that we post here at the forums and at the main site and realize that Ron touches so many lives. He has touched mine as no man has...I concur with everything you said. There is no man like him - selfless, kind, compassionate and talented. He puts aside his own writing to allow us to meander around his 'living room' called Passions in Poetry.

If a man's worth is counted by the number of people he has affected, Ron is worth more than all the Fortune 500 put together and multiplied by 1000.

You are amazing Ron. Thank you.

This is a wonderful tribute, Kit. And to add my small own tribute, I will say, this is the best link to the most positive wave of love and understanding that I've found on the internet. The quality of writing is equalled by the quality of the new friends I've made since joining Passions last summer.
I cannot imagine a week without my new friends. Thank you, Ron, for your tremendous gift.

very true.
even if sometimes we don't all get along as well as we might, this is a home to all of us. what Ron has created here is a place where people can advance many different points of view in elegant style, and advance the cause of ART at the same time.
Thanks, Ron, and Kit, BRAVO!!

How did this gem skip by me
a poem such as this
where every little post recalled
resembles a chaste kiss?

But never mind, what's lost is found
though I needn't look too far
for here it is at top again
like a bright, and shining, Star!

No better way to bring in the holiday season than to thank the man that not only gives us a place to grow in our poetry and challenge ourselves daily, but offers us a large part of his life just to make sure that we enjoy our time here.  Excellent write and a very much deserved tribute.

I was away when you posted this, and nearly missed it, so glad I found it. I too would like to voice my appreciation to Ron for this site. Prior to coming here, I had only ever shown my poetry to one person, and that was many years ago. I feel comfortable sharing my poetry hear, and love reading everybody else's. This is a really caring community, and I'm so glad I found it. My hat is off to Ron for such a creation

Yanno I am loosing it - I know I posted on this one, but I bet I forgot to push the right button, but no matter I am back!!

First of all Kit, you have with your wonderful ability to write from your heart, captured the essence of Passions, but in so doing, you are also standing up as an example of the type of people that post at "Ron's Place". I remember when I first came here I could not get over the number of moderators, and that is impressing in itself, and I thank them for their time too.  Without the moderators, there would be no order, and this is the best run site on the internet because of their time too.

But...I bet no one realizes what it costs to run a site like this, and that Ron puts the cost out of his own pocket for all of us?  He never mentioned that part or the excessive hours it takes him in his perfection and quality control, to keep this site as good as it is, so I say hat's off to

THE MAN

.

I am will forego the graphics because this thread is for Ron, a no-frills, wonderful man who happens to care about people who also care about people, poetry, and I think he has a heart as big as all outdoors.

Ron, all I have to say to you is - thank you for being you - so we have a palce that we can be us.

We luvs ya Ron!
