Emptying the Mind

It's easier to empty the mind
then it is to touch the soul of another.
Last evening, early, I tried this
as I lay down to open all thoughts
and let them slide down my body.

One by one, I could feel them,
each memory, each thrill, each look shared.
Body sighing, showing signs of withdrawal, struggled.
Reaching for the comfort of a quilt,
even on a warm night, tucking it in tightly
to hold those thoughts close to me.

Until the silhouettes playing behind my eyes ceased,
the glow of the night disappeared
and the silence of my softened breathing
was all that was heard, you remained beside me
'til the very end.

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."
(J.Garland)

You always seem to have a lot on your mind...
it probably does take you time to sort, solve, forget, remember ...
maybe if it would only be easier to have an "IN" and "OUT" box for another day.
A little paint, a few flowers .... presto a whole new "office"!!!!
Wouldn't that be a thought to remember?!?!
Keep smiling!!

Sometimes all we can do is wrap those thoughts up and hold them close.  Well done.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Sunshine..glad you were the first that day to read and respond *s

Craig, my mind never stops ..it drives me  crazy..but in a good way..an in and out box..I like that idea  but what about the thoughts that hang around and won't leave.
A whole new  office with flowers and all...I think I may just do that *s

Nancy~  I ache all the time, I guess it's a part of growing older..*s Thank you.

Corinne ..I am  glad you found comfort in  my words.

Lone Wolf..oh and I have them wrapped up in ribbons...beneath my pillow to get me through my nights. *s Thank you

~Wynter
