Long since remembered
Of the day she said "I do"
The look of her face
Happiness aglow, tears of joy
Welling up from within
Holding her love in her arms
Truly a priceless vision for all to see
I stood alone, a smile upon my face
Watching as they danced so slowly
Knowing deep within my very soul
That the wonderful angel
Whom I call my friend
And the loving man
She now calls husband
that they shall live in happiness
basking in the warmth of their love
before returning to the shadows
I say my goodbye
With an gentle embrace
Then a hardy handshake
I soon disappear from sight
as I trek down the drive
I softly begin to sing
hearing the words in my mind
"one boy, one girl
two hearts beating wildly
to put it mildly
it was love at first sight"
truly a gift from above
for love found two angels
and gave them wings to fly
as they have become one
bound by love and happiness
feeling heaven in their arms

Fear destroys the mind, depression destroys the soul... only love and compassion may save you from death.

This wonderfully written poem felt like a crisp autumn wind upon the neck, face, and heart...  Although not stated, the undeniable yet subtle feeling of loss;  perhaps even disapointment or sense of vicarious and ironic "happy for you" feeling is interwoven in this piece and leaves me with a feeling of having observed an observer observing -- much like your pen-name, the speaker seemed but a lonely shadow not truly belonging though desiring such.  Bottom line:  I enjoyed this much and am glad I discovered it.  Well done.

I love this piece!  The aching and longing in it is just incredible, as I watched him/you? standing in the shadows at this wedding. And I feel as though I am stammering and stuttering all over in trying to tell you...just how much I enjoyed reading this. BTW "One Boy, One Girl" is one of my favourite songs. Therefore after seeing those lines the song played over and over in my head as I read..I think I had better go before....

Thank you so much for this one!

Happy for her, yet sad for not being the love of her life. This is poignant and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Wow!! this is so great! Everyone should be fortunate enough to find their true love!
I, myself, always wonder if I will get married and envision what the big day would be like. This is incredible work!
