The only thing that I can't understand
is why did it take a war to come to this land
for this country to openly show it's pride
when for so many years it just seemed to ride?
It seems a showing of pride we had been lacking
and in our unity we had been lacking.
Or was it just laying dormant, ready to face
and arrive in a show of glory and grace?
Now everywhere you look you see the flag wave
and hear people talk of the home of the brave,
I think that we need to feel this pride, every day
and not just when trouble begins to come our way.
So let the flags wave, fly proud and fly free
and let our country FOREVER  united be!

(my intention is not to offend anyone with this, but just to remind us that we should show our pride......ALWAYS!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

I agree, GS.  It shouldn't take a war or tragedy to remind us how lucky we are to be free and brush off our flags.

You got it right, gentle one! I found myself wondering the other day how many flags were flying on September 10th? I don't recall seeing any. Why, indeed, did it take a tragedy to bring them out....?
