Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gents
Please spare some of your time
I’ve come to speak of an event
To take place here in rhyme

See many may not know me here
And with me that’s just fine
‘Cause I’ve made reading a career
Since back in 99

I’ve seen so many styles
As our passions slowly grew
It seems I’ve read through piles
Of the moments shared with you

But in amidst the wonder
That I hold so very tight
There was a rolling thunder
From the laugher of one fight

Two of passions better
Were by no means very subtle
As they kindly traded letter
After letter of rebuttal

Yes balladeer and toe rag
Often tested each for wit
All the time letting one brag
While the other thought of…….stuff

But sadly I’ve not seen or heard
Sarcasm In a while
So here I am to spread the word
And maybe get a smile

See this one pair just maybe
Have been very good with rhyme
But I can’t wait till they see
A brave youth still in his prime

So gather round, yourself be heard
Let he who’s best soon rule
I carry nothing but my words
HEY OLD MEN! SHALL WE DUEL?

Kevin~
You're calling the Balladeer out ?

Cutie Pie .... you are BRAVE~

This may not be pretty ~

LOL @ you - using 'modest' and Balladeer in the same sentence~

This is creatively done ....
but you'd better run for the mountainside
cause Balladeer's got one purpose ...
and that'll be to 'tan your youthful hide' ~

He's the master quicker quipper
The essence of the forums PIPper
He'll take up this challenge at blue paces
and laugh out loud - as he chases
your youthfulness around the block ...
it's not too late ... wannna stop ?

Love you~

Ill set em up nice with a place in the keys

And when he finds out he can no longer tough it
He'll head on down there with a beer and some buffet....jimmy that is

Kevin,
Much is to be said for youth and agility,
But I wouldn't rule out age and senility.
So since you really want to learn to duel,
Watch, the Balladeer can make of you a fool.

Go big guy. I predict Balladeer 5 Kevin 0

I'm thinking you give the man way too much credit
We know he can dish it...but he can be fed it
And you never know cause I have me a spoon
I dont wince in the sun overhead at high noon

Ah the age of ruling the roost
when the younger needs a boost
to higher forms of gallantry
through wit of applied poetry

methinks though you may need help
so as soon as we hear you yelp
we shall take in all to see
Big Red take on Bantam poultry

for you see young man when all is done
some forever wear the crown, just One
long live the King of Ballads, dear
Protectorate Merlin still stands near

now sharpen thy wit, thy pen, or pencil
leave behind all patterns stenciled
bring forth bravado and do sit, brave
and hope you stand the Balladeer's wave...

Ha! Poet friend, you humor me.
Have you not heard of subtlety?
You called him out so blatantly,
with your few words of poetry.

You better run, I'll help you pack.
That Balladeer will blow his stack,
With quiet stealth he will attack.
Be careful man & watch your back.

I just poked him, but you my friend,
You kicked him hard in his rear-end.
*shh* Tell me, does he wear depends?
Ya better run farther then his cane extends.

He'll squash you boy.. just like a bug.
then turn away with casual shrug.
He'll wipe your remains on the rug.
We'll miss you Kevin, *sniff* give us a hug.

Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all.

How foolish or brave, or both
challenge Balladeer, and I quoth
he will skewer you, in fact,
like Cyrano De Bergerac.

oh no!
Here we go,
a duel?
Between friend or foe?
Kevin with youth
Balladeer with age......
now let's see them
duel on our poetry page!!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

ROTFLMAO. This promises to be a classic.

Go forth bravely Kevin, with all the vitality of (misguided?) youth...
I'm thinking though, he may boot you through the Pipsters house roof.
So best to have your Batmobil parked outside
this may prove to be a precarious ride!

methinks we would find some truth
in an effervescent but too young youth
as age gives forth that which we should hear
the sweet which springs from Balladeer...

Beyond bravery, I'll give you that
To stand and shout I’m right here
But when attacking the Big Buck
Perhaps it would be best from the rear

Best of luck young man... I'll be getting your coffin ready.

I'll be watching with popcorn from the sidelines (loved your joust so far, and Michael's graphics above, LOL). Thanks for the grins gentlemen!

Best wishes,

Kevin,

I too had to come back and find this post after I read Balladeer's response. Kevin.. you a brave soul I'll give you that.  And as good as this is.. I'm sorry to say that Balladeer will win.  But... I still love this   It should be interesting to follow along

Hugs,

I wanna sit here in first row
And want to hear the dingdong go
You threw your glove to Balladeer?
Oh my sweet Kev your braine's all clear?

You do know the story of sailor Popey
Ate lots of spinage and you know why
Did you forget you little young thing
That Balladeer is known as Spam's King

He'll slap you with his Vienna saucige
That will hurt more then a bug's itch
An arena fight I'm exited and thrilled
Yet sweety I fear that you will be killed

i must admit,
and do confess
there is a hit
it will not rest

the wizard rises
from throne of gold
or porcelain, sizes
you up; he may be old

but age and guile
beat youth and innocence
with casual style
he'll make you wince

never overestimate
the power of your pen
balladeer's doth sublimate
what he contemplates of sin

if there is fear,
let it be thine,
either way you steer
his quill shall shine

yes, a quill,
he's old, you know
but even so i tell you still
what a helluva helluva show

i wouldn't miss it for the world

Once a fool, always a fool...
I'm going to take a brave (foolish?) step forward and stand in Kevin's corner. I've always been a glutton for punishment. Should I be making arrangements? Time to write my own eulogy? Hearse time?
