To Rod

this ability of yours

          love

                   loss of love

put to words
for all the globe
to see

~*~

A Man Alone
needs his single
Night
so perhaps, a woman, too,

for once
I've Been to Town
going
From Promise to Promise
looking for
The Single Man
but finding only
The Beautiful Strangers

all of the
Lonesome Cities
tell me again, and again,
Love's Been Good to Me
so I'm only wondering why
Empty Is
something far,
Out Beyond The Window
so give me now
Some Traveling Music
while I look for the right one, the one,
A Man Alone

~*~

so thanks
for putting in to
words
my feelings
for all the globe
to see

as your music
sings
your poetry

~*~

All songs in Italics are the song titles to Sinatra's "A Man Alone", words and music by Rod McKuen.

A beautiful melody you have written.  Rod would be proud.  {~,^}  *w*

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

Rod translated Jacques Brel's "If You Go Away" into English and did a great job. Maybe I can sing it for you on my new computer some time.

What a wonderful tribute to a fine poet by a fine poet

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Easy to be a man alone..
Just learn to make
The whole wide world your home..
Don't talk to strangers -
Someone might be kind
And muddle up your mind...

Beautiful lyrics by a master...

You sure did him proud, and glad to hear you sent it to his site too.  He did translate "If You Go Away" and I will vouch for Richard, who has the most awesome baritone voice I think I have ever heard sing it!
