~No Longer~

Take this poets pen ...  for its gifts now cease to be.
No longer possessing direction ... lacking in poetic expression ...
Unable to write the rhymes ... to bring you back to me.

Then take my muse as well ... I've no need of inspiration.
No longer profound to pen in verse ... losing you became my curse ...
Silencing scripted salvation ... ending elysian elation.

Take also away the sun ... I don't feel its warmth anymore.
No longer impressed ... with its ritual of rise and set ...
Nor the crystal caress ... of the moon's habitual encore.

Now take away the stars ... they cant grant my wish upon.
No longer do they shine so bright ... nor light my ebony sky at night ...
All my wishes I wish withdrawn ... now that you are gone.

Take from me these hands ...  worthless without you to hold.
No longer able to embrace ... fingers numb from time's erase ...
A once warm touch in lingering trace ... now growing cruelly cold.

Take from me this heart ... for it belongs to you alone.
No longer mine to give another ... knowing there will be no other ...
Merely mine on loan ... who but you could turn it back from stone.

Please now, take this pen ... losing you took my words away.
No longer a voice in poetry ... no choice as the silence shadows me ...
I've no words uncliche' left to say ... like you, I fear they are gone to stay.

Janet Marie,
That all depends. Your pen is just using a different color of ink for now. But it still writes well!

~Deeply~

For Janet

To take from poetess of lightened wings
Exalted from the deepest wellsprings, eternal
Though so deeply she must sometimes dive
Take from her the pen so she mustn’t write
Nay, for though her pen is dipped extremely deep
‘Tis the place she decides to keep
That which all would savor more precious yet
Than soul streams of harboring youngness
Even time would hand her a new pen
Quilled soft and staining..still to begin again

{Hugs} for every line.

Sincerely,
Regina

It's all in the mind
Except for what's in the heart.

Oh, my dear Janet Marie ... none of these things could be taken away from you my friend. You possess them all so deeply within yourself, and they rise to the surface from your tender and sentimental muse so sweetly.

The flow in this piece was so wonderful ... I loved the format of each line carried through to the next. As a matter of fact, as I was reading down the left side only, to view your format ... I don't know if you realize it (or perhaps you do,   ) ... but you have 3 poems here ... not just one.

The format, if reading only those words to the left "half" before the "...", carry a beautiful verse all to itself, and when reading only the right half ... yet another side is shown - each unique and beautiful if read alone. Combined ... they bring your sentiments to light in their fullness, yet each carries it's own subtle variation of your heart. No matter how I read it JM ... your heart is beautiful, as is this rhyme.

Best wishes (and thank you for your sweet words the other night ... big hugs),
/Kit

Well you guys are my morning Sun

First of all I got an email asking a q....
a friend said they couldn't find the word "elysian" in their dictionary....

I found it in my Thesaurus ... its was new to me too...
the definition I found said it means "divine inspiration"
and how perfect for poetry is that

E·ly·sian (i-li-zh'en)
adjective: of such surpassing excellence as to suggest divine inspiration.
adjective:   resembling paradise; causing happiness
Example: "Elysian peace"

Dont ya just love learning a new word !!

I'll be back in a bit to thank you all

Janet, dear heart, your muse whether melancholy or not is always beautiful.
It leaves you with words that the rest of
us just wish we could begin to express.  Your beauty not only comes from your pen dear Poetess, it comes from your heart.
Hugs to you.

Janet Marie!  This is an incredible write!  As Kit pointed out there are actually three poems here and it is very interesting to read down just the left half.  Amazingly done!  Love the presentation, the thoughts, the entire piece!  Your muse is still with you...always was...always shall be...for you are one gifted writer! She is just in a melancholy mood. Thank you for this one!  Into my library it goes....hugs, Nancy.

I KNOW you know .
And for all my whinning and teasing about my moody muse...and the writers block I have been struggling with off and on for months now....
I am indeed always grateful for every word and verse....I know I tend to write more on the sad side...I always have..even when Im happy. The words must come as they wish. The thought behind this was that no matter how much we write...or how well we write...sometimes there are no words to define...for some things cant be gotten back..not even by the magic of poetry.

The weight behind this write was heavier than all its words combined -- I felt it from the other side of the poem, and that is quite the accomplishment.  I'm glad to read your work again, JM -- it always reminds me of the potential words have to catalyze feeling when arranged by a heart like yours.

My dear lady...
one would not say the muse was slight after reading the words you pen. One might say the muse melancholy perhaps, but then it is the emotional that so often inspires the poet is it not, and melancholy is an emotion many of us know well. Your words here, as with all I have read of you..reflect the fact their is a genuine talent, and a genuine heart in you....

You keep writing...and I'll keep reading...

Sorry I am late on this so-called "muse missing melancholy masterpiece".  Not unlike Kit I read down the left first, and that was great, then the right, and it stood alone, and then put them both together and the magic burst forth!  So three poems in one, and you say your muse is missing???  Your muse is never missing just gathering up momentum for creative juice in its next run I think, but each time you think it is on strike, it comes back stronger, and brighter than ever. Can you tell I enjoyed this one

the pen...your heart writes the words.
