the forums

i marvel
at overwhelming lack of interest
in that which i write

i can only know your thoughts
if i respond with mine
this is not fair

where are the readers
who just read and comment
why only poets

i will not turn my love
into politics
war of warm fuzzies

false little critters
wrought from obligation
hardly genuine

indeed i marvel
my love burns in me
for expression through form

where are the readers
moved to respond
from honest heart

where are they
who are moved
by my words

i am unable
to corrupt my love
into politics

not sure what you are getting at..but if its readers I am sure youhave them.. some don't respond to all..but that doesn't mean what you write is not worthwhile..because as they say you are writing for yourself first..anything else is a bonus

<wrought from obligation

This is why my comments are rare. I read about everything posted. I only comment on that which I understnd. And I don't comment on everything. I want others to feel that when I comment I was truly moved. I will say three things about this piece.

1) I like that you employ breaks to provide a physical structure. I find long strung together pieces very difficult to read.

2) Your piece betrays a need to recieve the approval and or acceptance of others. I personally write for myself and if others feel moved to comment ... so much the better. Write for yourself my friend!

3) I don't like the rejection of simple gramatic principles like capitalizing the first word of a line. Just my humble opinion.

No one ever listened themselves into trouble.

It is a common courtesy to both read, and comment.  Some people just read.  Others, like you, wish to be read, as well.  And some, just post.

Perhaps you are read, and just no comments are left behind?

For if that is what you do, read, and not comment, then you should not ask for any more than you do yourself.

I find so much to read, and wish to comment on all.  But of late, there hasn't been as much of the finer poetry on the boards.  A lot of fun stuff, sure, and that is well and good.

Go dig up a sonnet, and I'll see you in 17...

my inspiration for writing this was something i didn't quite understand. so i wrote this to get there. i write to understand myself more than anything. my entire life has been about poetry, and so shall it be until the end.

i also read more than i comment. many poems i find difficult to find something to say about -- especially when they are difficult to follow, which seems to be the case for me a good 95% of the time. we all have our poet, mine was robert service, met his material at age 12 -- he never wrote an obscure poem out of the thousands he produced:

    http://www.mochinet.com/poets/service/

oh yeh, where i got to through writing this piece. a strange sort of discovery that has brought me some piece. first, let my rebuttle be known on the matter of 'writing for one's self'. indeed, i write for myself, but i only see my poem through my eyes. i cannot fully understand my poem until i see it through the eyes of others. it is frustrating for me to live out this entire life with only my singular perspective. though i may 'try' to see as others see, i can only see thus through the perspective of my own experience and understanding. i LOVE seeing my poems through other eyes. i love finding out how people interpret my writing, because then i can see what i wrote. if i was the only person left on this earth, i may still write (writing only for myself), but chances are i wouldn't because i would then have no hope of ever seeing it through the eyes of another. likelier it is that i would take up rock carving, there wouldn't be a soul upon the earth to critique my efforts. however, as a poet, i like critiques ... better, i like seeing what others see. it teaches me about myself, it brings me a deeper understanding of my own work, and it encourages a certain degree of personal growth.
rebuttle aside, what i learned in writing this piece is that i was 'fathered' by robert service (my father killed himself). a unique sort of thing has happeend. rather than wish to propegate and have children, i wish to be to someone else what robert service was to me.

i think it's kind of interesting how people stopped commenting on my poems, for the most part, after writing this. the truth stings a bit, does it not? well, at least i've managed to weed out the canned comments from yon foot soldiers of the warm fuzzy war. the comments i do get, now, are actually worth reading.

and for the record, i do comment on people's poems. but i don't go through and spit something out on every poem i see just so those who spit something out on every poem they see will spit something out about my poems. yeesh...

WARNING: this reader is not prone to terse, canned comments.

i've been here since the beginning of this... i mean, i was like one of the first few members and i practically live here... still...after 2 plus years... and it was only within the past day or two that i noticed your name at all, and i apologize for that...  just now i clicked on "today's topics" and this pome appeared and i felt compelled to respond...

we all want to be read.... believe me..... if anybody knows that, it's me...

i'm not one of the "popular" poets here.... many have said that they don't even understand what i write, even though i think it's a pretty simplistic love poem or something.... it's hard for me, too...

what i think is this...... this has grown to be a BIG site.... a HUGE venue... with many many writers... and even though this hasn't really worked for me, in theory this should work for most, i suppose...

to respond to others, to give your feedback and input to others will clue them into your name and then they will read your work and comment also....

(many say they can't comment to mine even though i comment to theirs because either they don't understand what i wrote, apparently, or didn't read it, or it's too heavy or something but hell, i have another idea.... write HUMOR!!!! that's what i do, too..... LOL!!!!! and they flock around me like geese... hehe.... but the deal is this.... it's NOT about popularity, unless that's what you want to make it about..... and it's not about how much time and effort and giving you spend responding to the poems of others even if they donl't take the time to give back to you...... no!!! what it's about is.... WRITING and FEELING and making your writing LIVE on the page and i'll be very very honest with you.... i have not read you yet.... except this one piece.... but your demonstrativeness and your caring and heart displayed here in this one, the emotion backing it, made me recognize your name so guess what? hehee.. i'll try to find you in all this ocean of words and when i find your name again, i will read.... and feel what you feel..... and respond......

for now.... goodnight and Happy Thanksgiving....

i give thanks to be able to write, to be able to read your writing.... and for the fact that tomorrow the sun will come up.....

*smile*

*sigh* I often read your work, so take heart already, will ya?   Your work is wonderful. I very well may be just now discovering it, but I do enjoy it.   I read a lot of poetry around here (including yours) and I don't know what to say. There are only so many times you can tell someone your mouth is wide open is disbelief at beauty or poignancy of work before they begin to wonder if you're manufacturing your replies throught the false high praise machine, so I don't comment on everything I read. I do try to let the author know in some way that I read them to keep them assured that their work is worthy and wonderful. LOL! So..yeah..anyways..onward to the poem you have here.

I love the way you conveyed your thoughts here without being petulant. I love the way you simply ponder over it..puzzle over it, and resolve to keep doing what you're doing already. There aren't too many poems of this nature that turn out in such a way that doesn't seem childish. Yours is excellent and well said in an adult tone. I love it.
