I Traced You Last Night
By Larry Chadwick

I trace the highlights of your face,
Feeling emotions that you always share.
Gentle reminders of the reasons why,
I like to trace the lines that are there.

Subtly that line traces down your neck,
Where I find such aromatic memories.
I could easily get distracted right here,
Tracing your line with no time to tease.

And then the rising curves of your body,
Ahhh, yes the high points of my desires.
My pausing here seems only natural,
A place that always starts burning fires.

But there's another place that this line leads,
That little button that invites me to stop in.
A spot that recalls so many happy times,
Just being here makes you laugh again.

Your giggles sweetly encourage me on,
Tracing further past those hips I go.
Mindful of their swaying capabilities,
Seductively reminding me I love you so.

My fingers trace down those sexy legs,
That gives you the power to run away.
While they lift your body up to me,
They provide strength for you to stay.

And then my fingers find your feet,
How they make you putty in my hands.
But don’t forget they’re a source of joy,
Turning most sadness into ticklish plans.

Now that I have traced you from head to toe,
It helps me understand what makes you whole.
I’ve learned to love the completeness of you,
And when I’m done you have etched my soul.

Your best poem ever. No way can you top this one.  Sensual, a slight hint of typical Larry humor, a tingling delight from head to toe. I'm keeping this one, you know. It's mine now, and I'll pretend someone wrote it for me.  .

Of all the verse I could've picked, this is my fav...guess I'm sick.  Good one, Larry.

Don't Ever erase this!!! Every line..is squarely dead center and perfect. You didn't need any help after all   A trace in most penning fashion. cept I wouldn't have been able to stand still long enough! Did you use permanent ink??? Did I say how much I loved this?

Sincerely,
Regina

Magnus,
Thanks, this was a fun write! But it took thirty years of dreaming to write. I've concluded romantic poetry is probably a one shot deal for me. But one for two ain't bad.

I just wanted to say that your poem was really sweet....especially the last part where you say that you have learned to love the completeness.....to understand beauty is to get all the aspects of the person....

Apachecat,
Yes I heard what you heard. It is very humbling. This was a fun poem to write and a pleasant surprise as romantic poetry is an interest of mine to read but unable typically to write. Your words are very kind.

Peaches,
Back at you! Thank you.

Abigaile,
Thank you so very much.

Jennifer,
I am glad you understood the message of this poem so well. Thank you.

Anybody who knows my poetry is probably (almost) as surprised as me that this came from my pen. Thank you for your generous response. I am truly blessed.

What a fun surprise Marge. Thank you. I had this illustrated with original artwork and printed and elegantly framed for a Christmas present to my wife weeks after this and it hangs in our bedroom. How kind of you. Grately appreciated for sure.

Larry!!  I'm so glad that Marge brought this back up...I don't know how I could have missed it before, and so glad I didn't now.  It is so sweetly tenderly provocative!  I just love it...maybe I'll show it to my hubby so he can copy your ....er, plan?
