they walk
like this
down the
aisle
s    s
i by i
d    d
e    e
hands in
prayer
and seeking
solace

I can
feel their
sadness,
see it in
their eyes,
it's as if
it would
only take
an angels'
touch to
let the
feeling
flow

they arrive
like this
at the
altar
s    s
i by i
d    d
e    e
hands open,
ready to
receive
the gifts

they accept
the gifts
of life
body and
blood
bread and
wine
the ritual
repeated
the words
spoken

they return
like this
to their
lives
s    s
i by i
d    d
e    e
hands closed
kneeling
lost in
thought

and yet,
they are
still
where they
were,
still seeking
solace,
and I
wonder

is solace
offered
when it
is
expected?

Being a practicing Catholic I often wonder why sometimes I'm able to really experience the peace of the bread and the wine. And sometimes I can't. It's part of our humanity, we must stay focus, but they are many distractions in life. At times I'm that person you've described. Great spiritual question here. Thanks.

This is wonderful, Beautiful Heart!

Great question...excellent leading up to it!

Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence.

The question of the day, Sven.

"is solace
offered
when it
is
expected?"

Hopefully it is offered when it is truly needed.

This is lovely, Sven, a different slice of you here.

Good question, too, I wish I knew the answer.
Seems sometime we have to comfort ourselves.

(sigh) BRAVO!!! STANDING OVATION!!! WONDERFUL POEM!!! It too saddens me to see those who seek solace and feel troubled yet if they have touched His lips. (big hugggssssss) My heart goes out to all and believe with all my heart as long as we reach our love to him earnestly and lovingly, we will seek His blessings! (smiles) You are always so amazing, we all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet John, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

The ritual...is not the key.  Very thoughtful piece, Sven.

Solace?!!

Sometimes we are too unreachable to get that.

Wonderful write my friend. And I liked the unique way you represented it.

Thank you

Truly unique you are my poet friend. I am intrigued with the question...as I believe it must already be present within us..just awakened by something more powerful than ourselves sometimes...to expect though is to be disappointed..to have faith is another thing altogether..You are wonderful in this...and I know that.

Sincerely,
Regina

thank you all my friends. . . it's amazing how some can come seeking solace, find it, and yet. . . still be sad and hurting. . . it's as if the solace they were seeking did not exist for them. . .

Regina spoke of faith. . . and that's a part of it. . . but, it also must come from us. . . we must understand that when solace comes, it's from a heart of love. . .

thank you all again. . .
