If Matters Fact
~~~
ostracized
forsaken place
these bars of time
no saving grace
from whence I came
a fence I face
around and round
no end
in chase
~
No-one
to share
I stand alone
to cheat despair
I scratch this poem
if matters fact
it has no home
amid the care
dispense
of drone
~~~

(big hugggssssss) Such despair fills these words, dearest friend! (sigh) I pray that grace can again fly insid eof your loving heart and fill you with wonder behind these bars! (sigh) My heart goes out to you, dear friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Rex, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Loneliness and despair echo through each line.  Hope you are feeling better soon, Rex.

Rex,
You express this too well. Hopefully not from over experience. Courage.

A moving poem, Rex. Feeling a bit fenced in all alone? Hope it really is "just a poem" .....or at least one with a short shelf life.

It's just a poem ... written to what I imagine, were the feelings of a man who wrote a poem, on a battlefield in 1915.
It was a poem of despair and when it was finished, he thought its existance, an expression in futility, so pitched it into the mud.
A wounded soldier retrieved it and sent it to various publications, where Britain's Punch thought it worthy and it went on to become a worldwide sensation.
'In Flanders Fields' was posted here on the one day that it means the most and since it was not posted by its late author, John McCrae, its thread was locked.
Rules are rules and the moderator did their job justly, but I couldn't help but think of the irony involved in that decision.
Thankyou for reading
~
