Crescent moon of ivory light,
through window, falls upon her hair.
Her skin is bathed in silken glow.
She's much adored, but unaware.

For in this night of starry lace,
far off, a man longs for her touch.
He writes his last name with her own.
Oh, how he loves her very much.

With twinkling lights, in soft night sky
he writes of love, poetic rhyme,
from heart to pen, gently with sigh
her smile in words, beauty sublime.

He dreams of sending heartfelt verse,
perchance to win her affection,
yet fear remains unwanted curse,
not willing to risk, rejection.

Rejection is an dreadful hurt,
but so is not to hold her hands.
He longs to stroll the beach with her,
make love in twilight ocean sands.

He mails the verse, has fingers crossed.
He needs to get on with his life
and once again he signs her name.
He dreams some day she'll be his wife.

on distant shores, his words recieved
in candle light, his cadence shines
so taken with the love he weaved
his heart was found between the lines

with quill and ink, she sets to write
in reply, she sends her adore
dreaming of when hearts will unite
wanting this man forever more

What a beautiful duet!

'on distant shores, his words received
in candle light, his cadence shines
so taken with the love he weaved
his heart was found between the lines'

You are both shining through this one

You two did a wonderful job, you chose a style and BOTH stuck to it. The feel would have to be opposing, yet harmonious viewpoints or so similar that it looked like one person wrote it. It was so well woven, that I never knew it was two people until I reached the comments.

Bravo ... makes me want to try a duet.

Everyone, thank you so much for your generous comments, but the praise must go to my wonderful friend, Susan.    She's such a talented writer and it was truly an honor to work with her on this piece.  Thanks!
