Born to Hang

Mama called me in one day-
Said, "Son I'm worried bad.
You have a real bad streak of mean-
You got it from your dad.

He never worked an honest job-
And died at thirty-one...
He tried to rob a liquor store,
Fell to a lawman's gun.

I wish you'd be like other kids-
Go out and have some fun.
Instead of staying in your room,
And playing with that gun".

One night in Austin, Texas-
I hit a liquor store-
The fellow tried to pull a gun,
I left him on the floor...

I stood before an angry judge-
And watched my mother cry-
When his honor brought the gavel down,
And sentenced me to die.

I have my shorts around my neck-
It's really very strange,
I guess the saying must be right...
Some men are born to hang.

Good story told here. I love the way you write, you always take the reader right along with you, somehow vividly portraying what you are writing about

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
