Lessons Of Love
AMK
11/7/01

She’s learned the lessons of life
Thinking she’d paid her ultimate price
Taking chances maybe she shouldn’t have
She just closed her eyes, and rolled the dice

But then the lessons of love began
One by one, she went through them all
She never thought she’d find a true love
A love to catch her from her fall

For a while though she found such a love
She held onto it as tight as she knew how
But as love often does, it left
She’s not sure what exactly to do now

Picking herself up, she brushes herself off
Determined she looks straight ahead
But no matter how she tries
Memories of the past cloud her confused head

Her heart plays songs it shouldn’t
The Jester laughs at her all the while
The Queen of Heart just wickedly smiles
She tries to laugh it off, but it’s not her style

She wonders what the next card will be
Will it be love, or has her time been passed on by
Though she’s with a new love now
Sometimes late in darkness her heart does still cry

These words will never come to surface
They will never make the light of day
She’s buried them all deep inside her heart
That’s the way she intends for it to stay

She wonders how long this new love will last
She hopes things will be different this time around
But for a moment she will get lost in these feelings
As the last tear from her eye, softly touches ground

"I could kiss you in
the rain forever.
Turn all of your pain to pleasure
Fill up your days with
sunlight, make the
passion last every night"

Life is indeed a gamble, a game of chance. You might win or you might lose. But what exactly does winning or losing mean? What do you gain or lose?

Sometimes when you think you've found love, they might not be deeply rooted enough to stay forever... What then? you'll probably lose him/her, but then you might hang on for dear life, afraid to let go of him/her, afraid to face the truth... *sigh*

I do love your poem... Thank you for sharing with us. It did make me think... ^.^

*sigh*. . . why is it that we always get lost?

this is well done Amy. . . the words are wonderful, and the flow of it is great. . .
