The fire burned low before one spoke
and said a tale in a voice that broke
I lost my love, I cannot love any more
my spirit is dead and my very heart is tore
My eyes do weep with salty tears
and now I am alone with all my fears

A stick was thrown on fire that night
as the old one did think upon this plight
Then he said to the one who cried
in a gentle voice which did not deride
“Do you remember when you burned your hand
taking the cooking pot from its stand?

You learned a lesson from the sear of skin
so you could partake of food once again
But that is physical to take hunger away
for the body needs food to make health stay.”
Stopping his talk, he looked around
then picked another stick from the ground.

“Now I tell you what is true to give,
the body needs food to continue to live.
As the body does, so does the soul
so the soul needs a food for its eventual goal
Burning the hand cannot stop from eating
losing a love cannot stop the soul from seeking.

For your soul needs love to continue to grow
you can’t stop loving because of a hard blow
As your hand did heal, so does the soul
experience is the coin paying the toll
So let the soul see the light
to re-embrace love with all its might.

If the hunting becomes poor and the field goes dry
and the stomach does shrink or the soul does cry
Then it becomes the time to seek new land
another place to begin another stand
Til the nourishment of both is finally met
then there is no cause for anymore regret.”

Logan--A wonderful and wise poem, dear man. This fire would be a comforting place to be, I think...especially if one listens. Wonderful writing!

I sat cross-legged
at this fireside chat
to listen to a wise elder speak.
For he's learned where it's at
on this earthly plain,
and gently reminds us
when there is a great fire,
we must seek a greater rain,
and the heart
of all that matters
is love.

When you bring us round the fire we find wisdom in the flames...
you KNOW I love this one....
We learn from your every word...
thank you for that sweet keeper...
Mind if I throw a stick on the fire?
This poem reminded me of something Mark shared with me from a book he was reading...I found it on line later......
Its been passed around for a long time..
Im sure you and Margie know it well.

~Sun and Moon~

Love is something that you and I must have......
We must feel love and then give love because our spirit feeds upon it.
We must have it in our life because without it..........
We become faint and weak
without it our courage fails
without it we can no longer face the world and its daily tests with confidence.
Without love, without feeling like we are loved ... we turn inward......
and little by little we destroy ourselves.
With love........
we are creative......
We march timelessly
with love and only with love are we able to sacrifice for others and not lose
sight of our own needs and goals.
Love is the soul's sunlight
Love is the spirit's moonglow.
Love is oxygen, it sustains us.
Give your love to someone who is worthy of it and be the kind of person who is worthy of receiving the same love you give.

Oh My!
"Burning the hand cannot stop from eating
losing a love cannot stop the soul from seeking."
Now how very true every single word of this wise poem was.  Fantastic Logan, and into the library it goes with my gratitude.

Thanks Logan! Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem! My heart is aching right now, but reading what you wrote made me realise that I do still have a long way to go. Life would serve up something more delicious than the earlier dish.

It is truly balm for a wounded soul.
