Home Is Such A Sad Place

I dried my eyes for the last time yesterday,
felt the tears disappear the way you did,
shaking your head,
saying there was nothing left to say.
I cried my last as I walked through
the dreams we shared
seeing the places on the walls
where the pictures used to hang -
those of you and us,
of our children,
and everyone else we loved.
I slowly moved through each room
marking were each piece of furniture sat,
your favorite chair,
your corner of the couch,
where your magazines always lay.
I stopped before the fireplace
where just last winter
we loved each other,
resaid our vows,
drank with arms entwined
from the other's glass.
I stood just outside the door
looking in one more time
and felt the cold
that hadn't been there before.
I wiped my eyes again,
felt tears trying to wash my hands away,
Home is such a sad place
when love doesn't live there anymore.

Very sad write here. A home is no longer a home when the love is gone. Then it is just four walls of emptiness. You describe it very well.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Felt the pain here, very sharp. This brings to mind an old song by Rose Royce (are you old enough to have heard of it?) "Love don't live here anymore"
So sad when things go this way,
Sandra

(big hugggssssss) Such a sad and heartwrenching read! (sad sigh) My heart goes out to your sorrow! (sad sigh) I pray very soon that love will come and touch your heart, and again make home where the heart is! (sigh) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shie upon you!

Poetry such as this grabs me by the heart and makes it skip a beat.

I hope it helped to write about it.

jwesley,

How sad this poem is. The pain radiates....  as BluesSerenade said, I hoped it helped to write this.  Keep writing the pain.. it helps.

Big warm hugs to you.
Tara

Such a sad tune. You've expressed the pain and loss quite well. Four walls does not make a home. It's just a house now.

Damn, trying to break my heart all over again with this one.  I remember it well.

Jimmy--If this is a personal expression, I'm so sorry..I know this feeling and it hurts.

Your poem really shows the emotion of being in a house without love.  Hugs!

James my friend, you have said the words. . . and now, it's time to go on. . .

well done. . . but, sad. . .

I certainly appreciate all the heart-felt responses from everyone and I am happy to say this is not me - can't really say that any of the really sad things I write of are me...just the shoes I try to step into to put into words what many cannot.

Thanks again for your read, your concern and your words...
