A Watered Well

I'm not one to like surprises
But when one like this arises
I know I too can be renewed
By this fresh way of being viewed.

In disregard of many flaws
Upon some hopeful future draws
A scene of many colored hues
Certain it will my heart amuse.

Though odd the way this touching came
(Can hardly call it luck by name)
Was not some eccentricity
More likely serendipity.

And by it stirs the muse awake
To this and other verse we make
Beneath old stars and city lights
And near warm shadows in the nights.

It's good to have a loving friend
To add to life a richer blend
That seasons what was plain cuisine
And opens doors we had not seen.

I'm not one to like surprises
But when one like this arises
I do not have to pause and dwell
To know I've found a watered well.

This is beautiful indeed. Very well said. There's nothing to equal the feeling of having found a friend, a love to share our lives with. You have written it so well. A watered well,... very apt metaphor.

Elizabeth, Midnitesun, peaches73533, Lone Wolf, mirror man, lady, Tracey, Sunshine:
Thank you all for stopping by and for your kind comments.  Glad you enjoyed.
To my frustration, I have little time to spend here of late.  (Hope that will change soon.)  So, when I was inspired by one of the few I've had time to read recently, I thought I should share this somewhat hasty response.  It may be awhile 'till there is another.
Thanks again and especially to that warm shadow of inspiration. . .

Thanks, dg.
Yes, the 'watered well' seemed nourishingly apt for this.
