It’s the game of the week
With chaw in my cheek
I tell Poet Devine “gooooo Yanks!”
And every late inning
When our boys are not winning
There’s a hero for whom to give thanks

First it was Jeter
Nothing was sweeter
Watching his tater
Climb o’er the wall
Then there was Broscious
Being precocious
It was like Kirk Gibson
Smacking the ball

Now its game seven
Winner takes heaven
And loser gets to cry
On the news at eleven

The match up is fierce
Roger Clemens
Kurt Shilling
How can a game
Be even more thrilling

I’ll give you the poetry play by play
It’s zero to zero and it will be all day

Now close your ears
If you’re easily shaken
And turn off the comp
If this isn’t well taken

I stand at the plate and extend a forearm
Smile at the flashes with a mystical charm
And tell the whole world that this one is out
The Yankees will win there isn’t a doubt!

And you know what is great if the Yankees don’t win
I can be happy for Sharon long as she don’t rub it in!

(Hint Hint)

We got tired of the game
being boring and so
we decided to let
the Yankees have a go

but it'll stop right here
Curt won't let them score
we're headed for glory
nothing less, nothing more

the last they'll strike out
right on the letters
will be a D'Back
cuz the Yankees are better.

Our bullpen has pitchers
that are pretty darn good
Better than what happens
When Kim's in the hood!

PDV I gracefully bow
I'm glad that you have
a winning team now

The Yankees are cool
But ya'll really played swell
as to next year
well who can now tell

The lights are off now
and the field is all quiet
the chalk is asleep
and in the streets a real riot

i go to bed now
with goosbumps on my skin
if you root against friends
you'll be glad their team wins!

PDV, the Yanks are real sore
But as to you and me pal
Its the evenest of scores!

NIGHT ALL!

Hey Walt,
Now that it's done,
And we know who won.
The Yankees were best,
And then they came west.
If next year they are in,
Then we'll do it over again.

The game, it is over
The fat lady now sings.
Johnson & Schilling
Now have thier rings.

I'm so sick to death,
Of the media hype.
They think you should win
Just because you wear stripes.

Heres to the rattlers
The snakes with some bite.
They stuck it to Yankees
Fans on Sunday night.

I feel bad for the Yankees
They seem like nice guys.
But I'm fed up to here,
With thier fans who crack wise.

Humilty comes with a
Bittersweet taste.
So to all of you Yankee fans,
I say "IN YOUR FACE!"

No one ever listened themselves into trouble.

The Diamondbacks are a family team - if you noticed last night, they held the trophy awards ceremony IN the stadium and in the post game interviews on the field, most of the players were with their wives or holding their kids. They have been called a 'boy scout' team. Well, they have strong values and a work as a team - acknowledging that every man on the team helped win the series, not just the ones on the field last night. I am proud to be a Diamondbacks fan. (And last night, you should have seen the fans leaving the stadium, high-fiving the riot police who just stood there waiting for something to happen - and it didn't.) Sorry don't mean to go on and on....

It's hard to type today after gnawing my knuckles raw last night... and bouncing up and down with glee doesn't help. *G*

Walt and PDV... this exchange was immensely entertaining... your "on the fly" poetry attests the great talent of both participants. *G*

I've followed Curt Shilling for years... so if you heard an ear-piercing screech from the south last night, it was just my scream of YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Someone forgot to tell the cheerleaders the game's over?
Actually, it looks like you are just getting an early start for the next one....kind of like a political ballgame sometimes.
