Land of Never-ending Summers

This was inspired after I finished a self-help book by Sean Covey "7 habits of an effective teen". This is kinda like a mission statement. Hope it inspires someone else.

I want to be faithful and loyal
Truthful and honest
With everyone I know, and
Most importantly, myself

I want to be strong and confident
Stand with pride, looking ahead
Unafraid of the future
Not regretting the past

I need to be committed
To maintain healthy relationships with loved ones
Promises should not be taken lightly
Nor should they be broken easily

I need to be more disciplined
Success in life requires tons of hard work
Procrastination was NEVER a contributing factor
Coz it creates a helluva vicious cycle

I need to love and care more
To see the good in others and accept their faults
For what good are true friends and family
If I never learn to treasure them

I need to be more understanding
Life is full of criticism as it is
I should respect people's decisions
Without adding to their burden

I should be less critical
Nothing is ever perfect
Tis much easier on heart, soul and mind
To accept my short-comings and learn from my mistakes

At the end of this lifelong marathon
Tiring, yet fulfilling and rewarding
With deeds carried out in good faith
I would like to know that
I made a difference
Perhaps not in a big way
But never one too small

I could have made someone smile, brightened his day
Rescued a stray puppy, even saved a rainforest or two
I could have stood up for my beliefs
With everyone else hating me
But I am who I am
Not who they want me to be

Very inspiring...I wonder if Sean is related to Stephen Covey...the man that wrote The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People...James

James: yeah!! They are related! =) Stephen is Sean's dad. He was inspired by this father's work, so he did one 'effective habits' for teenagers too... =)

This is SO similar to the 12-step program for addicts, and a very simple, and yet difficult-to-live creed. I applaud you though, for your self-analysis and devotion to being a better person daily. One day at a time....funny, it sounds so cliche', but how can we possible do otherwise? Enjoyed MUCH.
