On A Journey To The Unknown

Forgiveness from me is so hard sometimes
To hear that there are so many crimes
Of a childs innocence being taken away
Cause those memories are there to stay

Things will happen to bring them back
Making their world seem out of wack
Unwanted anger they will feel inside
These are feelings they just can't hide

With all of their trust that was betrayed
Of everyone they will always be afraid
To know the meaning of love so true
Will always be so hard for them to do

To withdraw from the world is easy
With no one they can trust you see
Not knowing it happens to someone else
They start to withdraw into themselves

Of the ones who do commit this crime
They should have to do alot of time
With the memories of all those years
Of all the children they gave such fears

Powerfully expressed!  This is a topic that is close to my heart - and this moved me very much so and enraged me as well~  There are many emotions that go along with reading a poem like this.  Only because I can understand.  But, I do thank you for having the compassion to write about it~

In this case, forgiveness is probably very rare, although it can happen.  But, my phrase is - 'how can one forgive if the heart cannot entirely forget?'

Into my library this goes~

Take care,
Melissa~

*sigh* Speaking from experience I need to tell you it wasn't hard for me to forgive once I was able to understand it all. The hard part comes in judging myself so harshly. Through all the tests and trials in my life I have learned how to love. I would not change much of my past for I have become who I am because of it. The memories surface still from time to time but the anger is gone as I look at each new dawn and see the miracle of the life that has been granted me to live. Your words show you have a beautiful and compassionate heart. Your empathy is a treasure both rare and beautiful. Thank you. ** hugs **

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

This has a lot of truth to it.
Sometimes we forgive but we never forget the pain it left with us!

Well written here. It is indeed hard to forgive those who hurt children. Your words speak very powerfully on the subject.

Having gone through these experiences myself I know all about "forgiveness"  I think I've even posted a poem entitled-Forgiveness.  Anyway,  Although I have forgave my abusers,  The hard part comes in forgiving oneself,  especially when you realize how terribly it has affected your life, your relationships.  Absolutely every aspect of your life is affected by it.  You couldn't possibly imagine how much damage it really does do.  For me,  I was 3 years old when the rapes started and I was 15 when they stopped,  I am now 30 years old and I have flashbacks every single night, which makes me feel as though I am going through it all over again.
Thank you for the post Smartchick, you have an insight into the life of an incest survivor--I only hope it is not through personal experience.

This is probably the most difficult subject on earth to write about, and you have done an excellent job. You have gently opened a door for others to respond with feeling and undrstanding. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

There is no punishment harsh enough for one who would abuse a child  or rob them of their innocence. For those who get away with it, we can only hope there is justice after life....

SmartChick~ A beautifully honest write, done with a tender compassion that shows you understand.  There are some things that just can't be forgiven, and those are probably the hardest to remember and live with.

Hugs,
~Krista

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

Thank you all for replying to my poem.

I am so sorry you had to go through what you went through. I do understand, more than you think. This is a personal experience. So yes, I have a real good insight as to what it does to someone. And, when I hear abut anyone going through any kind of sexual abuse, It makes me so angry, because I know how their live is affected by the buse. And, I still remember how I felt when I was frowing up. It's a good thing that I am noet a judge.
