I was falling away
To the rhythm of shoes
That still had a shine
I thought they would lose

And if everything ran as it seemed
I'd run through sprinklers of dreams
The prism of want
sheds colors I choose

I hoped to get wet.
I took a side bet
That I’d never get caught

But my shoes slipped off…
I started to cough
I think I get sick quite a lot

Here I’m lying in bed with my mom
You would think that that would be wrong
but dreams don’t surface like shoes
that were designed only to lose
their tightness, their firmness of grip
so in sleep secrets will slip

slip on their faces
shoes that need laces
like I must be tied
tied to a desk
tied to my death
shortness of breath

I think I’ll just go for a walk in the rain
or is it a storm that’s shaking my brain
please don’t awake-the dead as they take
their morning stroll
we could all fill-the cavities at will
in the streets of our soul

but the puddles are getting quite deep
and we splash them as we would sleep
and we wake with a smile on our face
that there’s nothing not even a trace.
though our deeds have left us an ache
there is nothing left in our wake...

Some night life you have going, Walt. I especially like the end, its true that you can be so involved in your dreams you literally feel them as real, and then when you wake up-gone.
Sometimes I think it's a shame we can't stay asleep.
Love this.

I do like these lines...*s

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."

I REALLY like these first two verses ...
You took it down one path ...
yet, I believe there's another poem in here ?
Ya' think ?

nakdthoughts and I like the same two lines especially!
quite an interesting piece, pulls the reader along not lessening its grip

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
